Former Mountain Brook Police Chief Johnny Stanley Dies
Former Mountain Brook Police Chief Johnny Stanley has died, the Mountain Brook Police Department announced. Stanley began his career with the department in 1976 and was promoted to Chief of Police in 2002. He retired on January 1, 2011, after 35 years of service.
A reception and visitation celebrating Stanley's life will be held at Mountain Brook City Hall on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is open to the public.
According to the department, Stanley was a registered organ donor. His family is encouraging others to consider organ donation. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be directed to the Mountain Brook First Responders Foundation.
